It was supposed to be my ‘status’ message for last year…my new year resolution which got tossed out within a week!! A friend had warned me that translating that simple rule into day to day life would not just be extremely difficult but well nigh impossible. In my naïveté i was so certain it could be done. When you come to think of it how difficult can it be to disengage from the action happening around you, let everyone continue to perform their life-roles, find your place of calm and stillness and just remain unaffected. Try it for a day and you realise that unless you isolate yourself or surround yourself with some kind of force field it’s impossible not to be influenced by the behaviour of others. It’s like zaps of energy tasing you and incapacitating your ability to stay serene or like small pebbles tossed at your tranquility that create ripples and disturb the stillness within.
And yet one continues the search for that elusive composure and poise. Perhaps the new mantra should be~
“If there must be madness and time crunches and chaos in your life, then let their be chaos. But find the strength and stillness to be the eye inside that storm. These things are happening around you; nothing is happening to you.”
Now that stage would be ‘nirvana’ indeed!
