# Day 152 (Sublime Tagore)

A mystic,a visionary, a painter and a Nobel laureate for literature — Tagore was India’s grand old man of letters. To just list out his life-achievements is to bow in reverence to the intellect of a titan. He has to his credit over a thousand poems; nearly two dozen plays and play-lets; eight novels; eight or more volumes of short stories; more than two thousand songs, of which he wrote both the words and the music; and a mass of prose on literary, social, religious, political and other topics. On top of all this there are his English translations, his paintings, his travels and lecture tours in Asia, in the U.S. and Europe as well as his activities as an educationist, as a social reformer and a politician.
Sprinkled among his works are sublime gems… wisps of words that provide soul succour when you need it.
“The universe”, he once said “speaks to me in colours, my soul answers in music…”
