“Let me, O let me bathe my soul in colours;
let me swallow the sunset
and drink the rainbow…”
~ Kahlil Gibran

Rejoice, for it is Happy Holi time!
The trees smile as they sprout tender leaves and blossoming flowers,
Azure breezes coax nature into glowing expressions,
Earth bedecks in shades of so many hues
As all hail Spring with ecstasy and joy!
And amidst it all
this ancient land of India,
bears witness to a festival of color, of happiness and camaraderie.
A nation comes alive and enjoys
a vibrant celebration of myriad hues –
Rejoice, the colours of Spring spread over our land, it is Happy Holi time!

Evil is overpowered by love and devotion
in this experience of contentment and harmony
as Holika burns amidst the merriment and mirth.
The enduring love saga of Radha and Krishna is evoked as
‘Ras Lila’- people mingling joyfully and rising into a transcendental state
Rejoice, the colours of Spring spread over our land, it is Happy Holi time!

Gulal – red, green, yellow and countless others
Paint the day’s canvas – a riot of colours.
Lively crowds run hither and thither,
Rainbow colours erupt from every nook and corner
Woes and despair lie forgotten
No enemies exist, there’s malice towards none
As fervent folks rejoice with splashes of vibrant frenzy
Filling this day filled with unbounded frolic and gaiety
Rejoice, the colours of Spring spread over our land, yes it is Happy Holi time!
